WB Equipment Presses

Enerpac & Simplex offer presses with capacities from 25 through 30 tons. All Simplex H-Frame Presses include a moveable work head that easily rolls across the entire length of the top cross bar. This allows the pressing force to be positioned at any point of the press bed. The adjustable work bed can be raised or lowered to accommodate a wide variety of jobs. H-Frame includes a friction brake winch that adjusts the bed height effortlessly and will not drop the bed if the handle is released (no kick back).

What Are Enerpac Hydraulic Presses?

Enerpac Hydraulic Presses are industrial-grade machines that use hydraulic force to perform compression tasks such as pressing, straightening, punching, bending, and forming metal and other materials. These presses operate by applying pressure through a hydraulic cylinder to a fixed or movable platen, delivering tremendous force with minimal physical effort.

Enerpac offers a wide variety of hydraulic press styles, including:

  • H-Frame Presses: Common in maintenance shops for general-purpose pressing.

  • C-Frame Presses: Ideal for smaller footprint applications and assembly line use.

  • Roll-Frame Presses: Feature movable frames for flexibility with large or heavy workpieces.

  • Bench Presses: Compact models for light-duty work and precision pressing.

Each press is built with a focus on safety, adjustability, and performance, with options for hand, air, electric, or gas-powered pumps.

Simplex Hydraulic Presses are robust, versatile tools engineered to deliver high force with precision. Designed primarily for industrial and heavy-duty applications, these presses are essential for tasks involving pressing, forming, straightening, bending, and assembling components. Whether you’re working in a manufacturing facility, automotive shop, or energy plant, Simplex presses are built to handle tough jobs with reliability and accuracy. In this article, we explore what Simplex Hydraulic Presses are, whether they are hydraulic or mechanical, how and where they’re used, common accessories, and the industries in the USA that rely on them.

What Are Simplex Hydraulic Presses?

Simplex Hydraulic Presses are industrial-grade machines that use hydraulic pressure to generate controlled force. They are commonly used in metalworking, component assembly, maintenance operations, and heavy equipment repair. Unlike manual or pneumatic systems, hydraulic presses offer greater force output, smoother operation, and precision control.

Are Simplex Presses Hydraulic or Mechanical?

Simplex primarily manufactures hydraulic presses, though mechanical presses exist in other brands and applications. Hydraulic models provide consistent, adjustable force and are capable of handling both low- and high-tonnage applications. These presses use a hydraulic cylinder and pump system to generate and transfer force.

Mechanical presses, on the other hand, use mechanical leverage, such as flywheels and cams, to deliver force. While faster in some applications, they lack the control and versatility of hydraulic systems. For precision and heavy-duty industrial applications, Simplex focuses on hydraulic solutions.

Types of Simplex Hydraulic Presses

  • H-Frame Presses: Ideal for straightening and general maintenance tasks. They feature a vertical press mechanism and a movable bed.
  • C-Frame Presses: Used in assembly lines and production environments where accessibility is essential.
  • Bench-Top Presses: Compact units for small-scale pressing, testing, or laboratory work.
  • Specialty Presses: Custom or high-tonnage models designed for niche industrial needs.

How and Where Are They Used?

Simplex Hydraulic Presses are used in a variety of heavy-duty tasks:

  • Component Press-Fitting and Removal: Bearings, bushings, gears, and pulleys.
  • Straightening Metal Parts: Such as axles, shafts, and structural components.
  • Bending and Forming: Sheet metal or structural steel components.
  • Testing and Quality Control: Applying controlled force to test material strength or component resilience.
  • Maintenance and Fabrication: Used in repair shops and industrial maintenance settings for general-purpose pressing tasks.

These presses are used in environments ranging from factory floors and machine shops to energy facilities and transportation hubs.

Accessories for Simplex Hydraulic Presses

To optimize performance and safety, Simplex presses may require a variety of accessories:

  • Hydraulic Pumps: Manual or electric pumps deliver the required pressure to the press.
  • Pressure Gauges: Allow operators to monitor force application in real time.
  • V-Blocks and Press Plates: Support materials during pressing and ensure accurate alignment.
  • Safety Guards: Protect operators from moving components and accidental displacement.
  • Foot Pedals or Remote Controls: Improve control and ergonomics during operation.
  • Custom Dies and Tooling: For forming, punching, or custom fabrication tasks.

Industries in the USA That Use Simplex Hydraulic Presses

Simplex Hydraulic Presses are trusted across a broad range of industries, including:

  • Manufacturing and Fabrication: For assembly lines, metal forming, and structural work.
  • Automotive and Heavy Equipment: In garages, repair shops, and OEM factories.
  • Energy and Utilities: Used in the servicing of turbines, valves, and heavy-duty equipment.
  • Aerospace and Defense: For precision assembly, metal shaping, and stress testing.
  • Agriculture and Construction Equipment Repair: For pressing out bearings and bushings in large machinery.

Interesting Facts About Simplex Hydraulic Presses

  • High Tonnage Models: Simplex presses can deliver force ranging from 10 tons to over 100 tons, making them suitable for both delicate and rugged applications.
  • Portability Options: Some bench-top and low-tonnage models are portable, offering flexibility for mobile repair units.
  • Made for Safety: Many Simplex press systems include built-in overload protection, preventing system damage and ensuring operator safety.
  • Longevity: Designed for years of continuous operation with minimal maintenance.
